Zion (36:16 – 42:30)

At about 40:19 a siding comes of the east side of the tracks and takes a long turn to the Zion Nuclear Power Plant. At the time the plant was still in operation. But in the 1990′s it was shut down after an operator error resulted in significant damage to the facility. In 2020, according the web site of the firm in charge of decommissioning, the site has been cleaned up and is ready for reuse. According to rail historian Tom Burke the siding was used to ship contaminated materials out during decommissioning.
